Grand Pianos

Heintzman grand pianos have been called the Canadian Steinway. All Heintzman grand pianos use the highest quality parts available. Pinblocks are Delignit brand from Germany; plain wire strings are Roslau brand from Germany; wound bass strings are Mapes Gold strings from the United States; hammers are specifically made for Heintzman by Renner of Germany; and solid spruce soundboards are the best available from Andre Bolduc of Canada. A complete Renner action is an available option on all grands and standard in the 9' concert grand as are the Kluge keys from Germany.

Heintzman grand pianos are built according to the original Canadian designs and scales. However, because these pianos are being assembled in Beijing, China there has been some confusion as to who actually makes them.
The actual name of the company in China is the Beijing Heintzman Piano Co. Ltd.. Some have assumed that they are being made by the Beijing Xinghai Piano Co.. We understand that according to Chinese tradition the name of any company is preceded by the name of the city that the company is located in. So while the Heintzman Piano Co. and the Xinghai Piano Co. are two different companies, in China they are named Beijing Heintzman and Beijing Xinghai.


Model H203 This 6' 8" Heintzman grand is a Semi-Concert Grand Piano designed for larger homes, recital halls, auditoriums, and professional recording studios. It stands 40" tall with the lid down and is 63" wide. A Renner action is an available option.

The Beijing Xinghai Piano Co. is a minor shareholder in the Heintzman Piano Co.. However, the quality of the pianos being built by the two are quite different. The Heintzman company uses parts that are much better quality than the Xinghai company, and the Heintzman pianos have the quality sound we remember as Canadians because they are being built to the original Canadian specifications that were used when the pianos were built here in Canada.
